Whats New for 2010 celebrate, celebrate Dear Divers and Friends; old, new and those to come, We hope that this finds all of you healthy, happy and ready for another year of fun in the sun and diving with SCUBA MALLORCA. WOW 2010! Has it been 10 years already? This year we at SCUBA MALLORCA are celebrating our 10th anniversary. How quickly time has flown. It does not seem that long ago that we opened our doors in March 2000. This makes us the oldest and most established dive center in the whole north of the island and still under original ownership. We could not have come this far without the help and support of all our fantastic staff, friends and divers throughout the years. We have a very special celebration planned with several special offers, drawings and maybe a few surprises. Please access the links on your left for more information. There will be Free Balloons for all. Free Commemorative Scuba Mallorca 2000-2010 T-Shirts for divers, Try Scuba Dive and Students upon completion of their dive/dives/course. Drawings: There will be many weekly drawings and seasonal grand drawings to take place at the end of August and more may be added, so keep an eye on our website, www.scubamallorca.com. Register at the shop. All winners will be posted on our website, www.scubamallorca.com, and in front of the shop. Entry forms on weekly drawings are destroyed at the end of every weekly drawing to allow new entries a fair chance. All prises must be claimed and used before 31 October 2010. Some prises have limitations please be sure you qualify before registering. Weekly Drawings: 1. Have a Go at Diving: Every week a free "Try Scuba Dive" will be drawn- open to all ages 10 up, no experience necessary, must complete a medical statement and be in good health to dive, age 10 to 17 must have parents consent. 2. Certified Divers: Every week one free dive will be drawn-open to all certified divers, must provide proof of certification, dive does not include equipment rental. 3. Mask and Snorkel Set: Every week a free quality mask and snorkel set will be drawn- open to all making a minimum purchase of 10 Euros. (includes all purchases, dives, courses or try scuba dives) (You can also register for vest/fleece drawing as well or just mask/snorkel.) 4. PADI Rash Vest or PADI Fleece Jacket: Every week a free rash vest or jacket will be drawn-open to all making a minimum purchase of 10 Euros. PADI Scuba Diver Course: Students register after completing your "Try Scuba Dive" with us. Medical required, does not include manual or dive certification card, age 10 to 17 must have parents consent. 2. 3 Day Dive Package (6 dives): certified open water divers (or higher) register after completing your dive with us. Does not include equipment rental. 3. Camera Mask: Students and certified divers register after completing your course/dive with us. 4. Dive with the Sharks: certified open water divers (or higher) on dive packages of 3 or more days register after completing your package. 5. One week holiday in a beautiful 2 bedroom flat in Puerto Pollensa 23-30 October 2010: certified open water divers (or higher) on dive packages of 3 or more days register after completing your package. Available to all age 10 up, medical required Pollensa Bay Diver: Distinctive Speciality - 265 Euros (305 euro value) This Distinctive Speciality is to encourage divers to dive more, become familiar with the diverse nature of the area and experience the unique and mystic dive sites that only the Bay of Pollensa has to offer. During the course, divers must complete a minimum of 10 dives in 10 different locations in the Bay of Pollensa with Scuba Mallorca within a 12 month period. The student must purchase 10 of our exclusive post cards with the dive site sketch and photo of the 10 dives sites they wish to dive and have them signed and dated by the instructor leading the dive upon completion. Upon completion of the 10th dive, all 10 postcards are presented and the PADI Pollensa Bay Diver - Distinctive Speciality card is issued. The Final Mission "of the Impetuoso and the Pegaso" In September 1943, two sub chasers of the Italian Regia Marina, "Pegaso" and Impetuoso", disappeared simultaneously in Balearic waters. Join us as Oscar Espinasa from Casco Antiguo and Fundacion Mar Balear shares his experiences and DVD in the discovery of the lost submarine in the Bay of Pollensa. There will be a drawing for this exciting DVD and register for our other weekly drawings. The mysteries of Cap Formentor As all the locals know Cap Formentor is a very special landmark both above and below the water. The marine life continues to grow and expand and the hidden cracks within her underwater walls offer a new and different discovery on every dive. Several ancient artifacts have also been found. Every summer research continues along Cap Formentor in the Bay of Pollensa. What's happening? Join us as a representative from The Instituto Español de Oceanografía (Spanish Institute of Oceanography) shares their discoveries and research. The IEO is a public research organization offering a variety of activities. Activities include: Conducting oceanographic research, advising the Spanish government on its oceanographic and fishing policies, representing Spain in international oceanography and fishing organisations, promoting co-operation in marine research at the regional, national and international levels and training oceanographers and disseminating oceanographic knowledge. There will be a drawing for the popular book GUIA SUBMARINA ISLAS BALEARES while this exceptional dive site guide book is in Spanish, the illustrations are excellent and the best dive sites in Mallorca, Menorca, and Formentera are included in English. You can also register for our other weekly drawings. Dive with the Sharks - Palma Aquarium. What a better way to find out about the aquarium and the marine life in the Med than hearing about it from the professionals. Learn about their feeding habits, growth patterns and their unique existences. The Palma Aquarium offers a Dive with the Sharks and we will be offering this dive in our Special Seasonal Grand Drawing. This will be your only opportunity when all certified divers can register for this drawing. There will be a drawing for a free entrance ticket to the aquarium. You can also register for our other weekly drawings. OUR NEW DIVE BOAT "CAPTAIN HADDOCK" JOINS "MISS CONNIE" As many of you know, we purchased a new speed, dive boat at the end of last season. While "Miss Connie" will continue taking divers out, "Captain Haddock" will be by her side assisting as our numbers in divers continue to grow. "Captain Haddock" is also a speed boat reaching speeds of over 50 knots (80 kph); he will be offering afternoon SPEED BOAT EXCURSIONS. We are also planning on diversifying "Miss Connie" as well and during low season we are planning on offering afternoon BIRD AND NATURE WATCH EXCURSIONS. Also in the plan this year are SNORKEL EXCURSIONS. RYA POWER BOAT TRAINING COURSE AND CERTIFICATE OF COMPENTENCY Wanted to rent a boat while you were on holiday and found that you couldn't because you had to have a license? Shortly we will become a RYA training centre and we will be offering the RYA Power Boat course this year. In less than 2 days you can receive your license so that you can rent a boat and be on your way to more fun in the sun and on the sea. ADVENTURE HOLIDAYS WITH ACCOMMODATION This year we will be working with Vent-i-Mar adventure holidays in Can Picafort. Vent-i-Mar makes their official grand opening this year with a luxury one and two bedroom apartment complex including restaurant, conference room, pool and roof top terrace.
